Short Changed? Why Do You Need An Autograph?

AUTHOR: – Bricki

Manchester United have played to full houses again on their tour of the USA and the players look fresh and sharp as they go through the usual tough pre season.

Just like any other tour that a Premier League team undertakes, the players have been interacting with the fans and sponsors to show a positive face of what is now a global giant of a club.

It appears some fans in England though are none too pleased about this and are feeling short changed about the ‘access’ that the club allows players on these tours.

Do these people have a point when it comes to player access?

Three out and one in at United, plus Reserves/Academy round-up

AUTHOR: – Doron

It’s been a busy two weeks for the Reserves and the Academy since pre-season started. Three games have been played, two more players have left on loan and one permanently, players already out on loan have been performing for their new clubs, the Milk Cup squad has been announced, various league fixtures have been announced, a player has joined on trial and there has been a touch of off-field controversy too.

Why Two May Go Into One Goal This Season

AUTHOR: – Bricki
It’s a brave new era at Old Trafford this season, the loss of Van Der Sar as established number one has left as big a gap as when Roy Keane or Cristiano Ronaldo moved on.

The big money signing of David De Gea would suggest that he is the future for Manchester United between the sticks but this season could see a genuine battle for the starting spot at No. 1.

Gabriel Obertan – It’s Now or Never

Gabriel Obertan - It's Now or Never

AUTHOR: – Bricki

Is Gabriel Obertan good enough to be a Manchester United player?

In the words of Elvis ‘It’s now or never’ for the French wingman in what is approaching his third season as a Manchester United player.

Obertan has shown flashes of class and brilliance in his time since signing in July 2009 but after two full pre seasons he’s had time to adapt and develop to the Manchester United way.

The whimsical transfer window and bitter disappointment

Sneijder

AUTHOR: – Stretford_End

“Wesley Sneijder’s mum has been spotted in Marks and Spencers buying Manchester United underpants!” or “Luka Modric was seen eating a pickled egg walking down Didsbury” are just two of the things you may well hear (well maybe not exactly hear) in this loopy time known as the summer transfer window. Yes, it is the time clubs up and down the country throw out their old players onto the scrap heap, whilst dreams of a shiny new player (usually foreign) is seen galloping towards you on the horizon. What isn’t there to love about the transfer window? Speculation! Gossip! But most of all – utter bollocks!

The rise of social networking sites has seen the rise of the ITK trend. You know, the guy that knows a guy that knows someone who knows another person who once delivered a chicken tikka masala to the cleaning lady of Ryan Giggs’ mums friend – who has a source close to the club. How dare the agents of today command a fee when those good ITK folk are doing all of the negotiating for you! Here we address the highs and lows of the transfer window and look at some of the players that ‘got away’ over the years.

Want Better Mens Teams? Treat Them Like Women...

England Women Football Team

AUTHOR: – Bricki

Following England Under 21s dismal exit at the hands of the Czech Republic at the Euro Championships in Denmark, the debate has again turned to the youth development of players in this country and what is going wrong.

In the team that was defeated by the Czechs on Sunday were 4 Man Utd players (Smalling, Welbeck, Cleverley and Jones). Producing youth players has been an important part of the fabric of United since the days of Busby and Murphy with most of the generations since producing at least 1/2 players of genuine class. It was the appointment of Sir Alex Ferguson though that saw the Academy given an importance again in the club and the development of our own players was placed at the heart of everything the club did.

So what does the future hold for the junior players of today and how do we look to improve and develop them to become a force at International Level again?
