Luka Modric transfer to Manchester United?

Luka Modric

Gillian Duffy may get a little more annoyed that another Eastern European has been linked with a job in the North West, although hopefully my explanation that this would be a great thing will not come across as clumsily as that of our current Prime minister – Mr Gordon Brown. Luka Modric has been in England for two years now and has shown the reason why Spurs paid over £16Million for him. I mentioned on Twitter a few weeks ago that I felt that Modric ‘looked like’ a Manchester United player. That will of course infuriate Spurs fans, who rightfully will claim that he is their player and he is going nowhere. If I was Spurs I wouldn’t sell him in a million years, however if Spurs do fail to land a Champions League spot, then who knows where Modric could play next season.

Tom Cleverley

Many Manchester United fans are eagerly awaiting the debut of Tom Cleverley next season following a very impressive loan spell at Watford this season – where he was awarded the player of season award. Cleverley is currently out injured and recovering from a knee ligament injury. The Hampshire born midfielder recently spoke of his ‘dream to make a big impact’ at Old Trafford next season.

Wayne Rooney wins PFA Player of the year

Wayne Rooney, scorer of 34 goals this season, deservedly won the PFA Player of the Year for the 2010/11 season. It is the fourth year in succession a Manchester United player has won the award – and four United players also made it into the PFA Team of the Year.

Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes; still world class

By the time Manchester United next take to the field we will know just how realistic our title ambitions are. After drawing with Blackburn it looked all over but the team picked themselves up to pick up two massive wins against Manchester City and then Tottenham Hotspur. We were missing Wayne Rooney again; but in the last two games in particular we have been given ample proof that the legends that have illuminated the clubs recent history will fight tooth and nail to extend the glory days.

Manchester United 3-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United 3-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Nani scores

Experience was the key factor in last weeks Manchester derby; it was required here, with just a touch of youthful extravagance to decide the game in the Champions favour against a tough Tottenham Hotspur side. Ryan Giggs was coolness personified to convert two penalties while Nani produced a match winning moment of magic to return Manchester United to the top; however temporary that may be.

Teddy Sheringham: Not quite Eric, but better than Berbatov

Teddy Sheringham: Not quite Eric, but better than Berbatov

Sheringham scores

Edward Paul Sheringham was born in April 1966 and his career in England saw him have start out at Millwall and have contracted spells at Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur before signing for Manchester United in the summer of 1997. It’s safe to say that at £3.5m, the forward represented one of the best value for money purchases of Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign at Old Trafford.
