Shinji Kagawa scores for Manchester United against Norwich City
Shinji Kagawa scores the first of his hattrick in the 4-0 victory over Norwich City

Manchester United prepared for the visit of Real Madrid with a 4-0 victory over Norwich City, who had beaten United 1-0 earlier in the season. Shinji Kagawa scored a superb hattrick and Wayne Rooney hit a superb strike in to the top corner in the ninetieth minute. The 4-0 victory puts Manchester United fifteen points clear, with Manchester City traveling to Aston Villa on Monday night. The win was the 33rd time United had beaten Norwich in all competitions. Here we discuss the talking points of a one sided game, where a single player stole the show – Shinji Kagawa. We welcome comments from both sets of fans.

Ever since the defeat at Norwich earlier in the season, United’s league form has been exemplary. By contrast, it’s been a mixed back for Norwich who’ve only won once in the league since mid-December, conveniently last weekend. Although comfortably above the relegation zone, they are a couple of defeats away from being sucked into uncomfortable territory. For United, there’s a balancing act to be done with the manager needing to pick a side with Real Madrid midweek in mind. As ever, we welcome comments and opinions from both sets of fans.

Man City went top at lunchtime on Saturday as Chelsea lost at West Brom. It meant that United knew they’d have to win at Carrow Road to ensure they ended the weekend as the league leaders. Norwich had famously beaten United at home in 2005 and this season they’d conquered Arsenal – despite what the TV pundits thought, this was never going to be a simple victory for the Reds. We welcome comments from both sets of supporters.

Manchester United travel to Norwich on Saturday evening for the 61st meeting between the two sides. United did the double over Norwich last season, winning 2-0 at Old Trafford and a narrow 2-1 victory at Carrow Road, following a last minute Ryan Giggs goal. The meeting at Carrow road last season was the first in seven years, since United went down 2-0 in April 2005. Here we take a look at the opposition’s view, the potential lineup and of course – a prediction.

We welcome the opinions of both sets of fans in the comments box.

United travelled to Norwich knowing that City had won the day before. Rooney didn’t travel but United were able to call upon Ryan Giggs for the 900th time in his United career. An attacking line up saw a 4-4-2 away from home, a far and welcome cry from the 4-5-1 system that has been seen all too often in the past 18 months.

Here we discuss the talking points of the game and invite Norwich fans to join in the discussion below.

Despite being a website with content about Man United written by Man United fans – we all happen to not only enjoy football in general, but watch a lot of it. Therefore, we’re trying something new – a weekly column looking at a few learnings and observations from the weekend’s football and not necessarily just in England. A new scribe shall be joining us on this column, Trinidad & Tobago’s finest, Rob. We’ll make no attempt to be neutral and we’ll attempt to link back to United where possible but otherwise enjoy our thoughts and ramblings.

United set a new club record with a 19th straight home league win albeit in far from convincing fashion. Norwich had the best chances of the game and it took two late goals from Anderson and Danny Welbeck to ensure United head into the international break at the top of the table. For a change no fresh injuries were picked up and a Premier League debut was given to Anders Lindegaard in goal. Here we discuss some of the key talking points from the game and welcome discussion from both United and Norwich fans.

Norwich City come to Old Trafford as United face a newly promoted side for the first time this season. This is the last game before another international break and United will be looking to ensure they go into it still at the top of the table. The midweek misery against FC Basel needs to be left in the past now and the Old Trafford faithful will be eager to see the team’s response…
