After the pre-Christmas draw at Swansea, United were hoping to get back to winning ways at home to Newcastle United. The Geordies, whilst fresh from a big morale boosting win over QPR, had injury issues and a pretty naff record at Old Trafford to contend with. This was to be a wet, sodden game that provided much more drama and entertainment than one could have imagined. We welcome comments from both sets of supporters.

United’s struggle at Newcastle last season was fresh in the minds of fans and probably players ahead of the annual trip to St James’ Park. United’s form has been patchy and following the defeat against Spurs last weekend, a response was needed. Newcastle had defensive injuries and were missing their first choice goalkeeper as well as both centre backs. Still, their front six meant that this was a game that couldn’t be taken lightly. We welcome comments from both sets of supporters.

After coming away with three Champions League points in Cluj on Wednesday, Man United face a very tough away trip to Newcastle on Sunday. The team will be trying to get its league form back into some semblance of order after last weekend’s surprising, pulsating but ultimately deserved defeat at home to Spurs. Newcastle come into the match on the back of a 3-0 Europa League win against Bordeaux in the Europa League. As always, we look forward to hearing from fans of both teams.
