Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said during his pre-match press conference that some youngsters will get “a chance to impress” on Thursday against AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa League. The Norwegian tactician also said the side would have “a mix between young players and experienced ones”.
Based on the starting XI he will send to the pitch to face AZ Alkmaar, he was true to his words.
Solskjaer will grant starts to Academy players Brandon Williams, Angel Gomes and Mason Greenwood. However, experienced names such as Marcos Rojo, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic will also feature here. Undoubtedly, Solskjaer wants to give minutes to most of the first-team players. Hence, the rotated squad here.
