Anthony Martial Denies The Rumours Of A Potential Exit This Summer

There has been a lot of talk about Anthony Martial potentially leaving Manchester United this summer. According to a report, the 21-year-old forward supossedly asked to leave Old Trafford due to a lack of playing time.

However, the French dismissed the speculation via Twitter. So this means the coveted youngster will not leave the team any time soon. Whether the rumours were true or false, United needs to keep Martial. Especially after what he has done for the team over his first two years with the club.

Even though his second campaign was not as brilliant as the first one, Martial remains one of the top young talents in the world. The former Monaco star bagged 11 goals and four assists in 31 Premier League appearances in his first year.

And while his production dipped this past season – only four goals in 25 EPL matches – fans need to be patient with him. After all, Martial is only 21. How many players have accumulated nearly 60 EPL appearances by the age of 21 while playing for one of the top teams in the world?

We have already covered what Martial brings to United. He is a versatile, swift forward who can play on a number of positions in the final third. However, the French international needs to play better if he wants to avoid these exit rumours in the future. And he will face some tough competition if some of the transfer rumours become a reality.

Let’s take a look at some of the potential arrivals to Old Trafford. Ivan Perisic has emerged as a potential transfer target in recent weeks. They have been mentioned as major players for Alvaro Morata as well. And Lazio star Felipe Anderson already admitted he dreams about playing for United. All these three players have one thing in common. They would become Martial’s direct competition for playing time.

At the very least, Martial knows he can play better. The forward himself admitted he wasn’t on his best form late in the season, and as a result he didn’t start in the UEFA Europa League final against Ajax.

All things considered, Martial should stay with the team even if United sign the likes of Perisic, Morata, and Anderson. He’s a special talent, and has all the time in the world to continue his growth. And while he might not be a driving force right now, Martial has enough potential to become one of the best forwards in the world in the near future.

The club shouldn’t waste a player like that over a silly “playing time” dispute. Especially when he should get plenty of chances to get back to his best shape next season. With the UEFA Champions League looming in the club’s horizon, Mourinho needs every single player on the squad to be at his best. And that includes Martial.
