Brazilian superstar admits he ‘dreams’ of playing for Manchester United

Lazio attacking midfielder Felipe Anderson has admitted that he ‘dreams’ of playing for Manchester United.

The 24-year-old Brazilian superstar has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent years, with his performances in Italy catching the eye of visiting scouts.

Anderson was a key player as Lazio finished the 2016-17 season in fifth place, scoring four goals and providing nine assists for the Rome-based outfit.

The former Santos attacker has confessed that he has heard the rumours linking him with United and that he would love a switch to the Manchester giants.

“Every player dreams of playing for a team like United,” Anderson told Portuguese outlet Sport TV, as reported by The Sun.

“After my season that was very good in the second year, there has always been a lot of speculation.

“If an opportunity shows up, or when I present myself at Lazio, I have to present myself very well.”

United are expected to be add to their attacking options this summer, as Jose Mourinho looks to get the historic club back in contention for major silverware next season.

There is no doubting that Anderson would be an impressive and technically gifted recruit, with the Brazilian at times single-handedly leading Lazio’s progression in recent seasons.

However, Mourinho looks to be blessed in attacking midfield currently, with the likes of Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan offering the creativity and attacking intent in the roles withdraw from the main striker.

Anderson is a close friend of Barcelona star Neymar and came through the ranks at Santos along with his Brazil international colleague.

The 24-year-old’s ability on the ball is undoubted, while he is capable of playing anywhere across the attacking line apart from as the man furthest forward.

However, Lazio would surely be reluctant to sell their South American talisman, while Anderson’s reluctance to work off the ball could well be an off-putting feature to Mourinho.
