INEOS Set For Further Changes At Manchester United
INEOS is set to continue its overhaul of Manchester United’s senior staff with three high-profile appointments expected in the coming weeks. Football Insider, as reported by CaughtOffside, reveals that the club is working to bring in a new sporting director, head of recruitment, and technical chief scout. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already initiated significant changes at United, even though his acquisition of a 25% stake is still pending approval from the Premier League. Recent changes include the replacement of Richard Arnold with Omar Berrada as the new chief executive. Berrada joined after a notable tenure at Manchester City.
The report also indicates that the new owners have dismissed football negotiations manager Sam Barnett, who had been with the club’s recruitment team since 2020. There are also suggestions that football director John Murtough may be on his way out. Newcastle United’s Dan Ashworth is reportedly a leading candidate to succeed Murtough, and Paul Mitchell is another name being considered for a role.
Eriksen Linked With Move To Turkey
Galatasaray are reportedly keen on signing Christian Eriksen, according to the media outlet Star. The club is contemplating a loan offer for Eriksen with an obligation to buy, following the rejection of their initial proposal by Manchester United. The report also mentions that Eriksen has had positive discussions with Galatasaray. Manager Okan Buruk is said to be interested in Eriksen due to his versatility, seeing him as a player who can operate both behind the striker and in a deeper midfield role. This aligns with Eriksen’s role since joining United as a free agent last year. Despite his contributions of one goal and two assists in 19 appearances for United this season, Eriksen’s future at Old Trafford appears uncertain. There are concerns about the veteran’s ability to play regularly at the highest level and his ongoing fitness issues, which have compounded United’s injury woes this season.
Fulham Fixture Confirmed
Manchester United’s home match against Fulham next month will proceed as scheduled. There had been some doubt about the fixture’s status due to Fulham’s progression to the Carabao Cup semi-finals. However, after their elimination by Liverpool, who will face Chelsea in the final, the fixture remains unchanged. United confirmed that the 3pm kick-off will go ahead as planned and will not be broadcast live on UK television. February will see United play five league matches, starting with a trip to Wolves on the 1st. They will then host West Ham three days later. The following week includes away games at Aston Villa and Luton Town, culminating with Fulham’s visit to Old Trafford.
