Wan-Bissaka’s Potential Move To Saudi Arabia

Al Nassr are preparing a bid for Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka before the transfer window closes on February 1, according to The Telegraph.Earlier this January, United triggered the one-year extension in Wan-Bissaka’s contract, which secures their control over his future and prevents him from leaving on a free transfer in June. The 26-year-old has featured in 17 matches this season, starting 13. A hamstring injury sidelined him for around nine games earlier in the season, and he is now frequently rotated with Diogo Dalot on the right flank. Dalot’s new five-year contract, with an option for a further year, hints at Ten Hag’s preferred choice in that position.

Mike McGrath reports that the Saudi Pro League side, aiming to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season, have shifted their focus from Tottenham Hotspur’s Emerson Royal to Wan-Bissaka. Should a move materialise, Wan-Bissaka would reunite with former teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Alex Telles. However, Ten Hag may be hesitant to approve any mid-season departures, particularly given the ongoing injury crisis at Old Trafford, which has left the squad stretched thin.

United Confirm Martial’s Surgery

Manchester United have provided an update on Anthony Martial’s availability amid ongoing speculation about his condition. Martial’s last appearance was on December 9, during a 3-0 Premier League defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford. He missed subsequent fixtures, with Erik ten Hag initially attributing his absence to a sickness bug. The manager remained tight-lipped about Martial’s continued absence in the following weeks, as he navigated a depleted squad. Recent reports suggested Martial had been excluded from first-team training due to fitness issues. However, his representative has clarified that the 28-year-old was actually dealing with an injury concern.

This has been confirmed by United, who announced today that Martial has undergone surgery for a groin problem and is expected to be out for approximately 10 weeks during his rehabilitation. Whether this will prompt the board to pursue a temporary striker before the transfer deadline remains to be seen. If not, Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford will be tasked with leading the attack in Martial’s absence.
