Two of the top teams in the English Premier League are expressing interest in one of the most coveted youngsters in Europe. And according to reports, things could get settled as soon as January next year.
Both Manchester City and Manchester United are looking to make a move for Hakon Evjen, the most recent teenage sensation that plays in the Bodo / Glimt, of the first division of soccer of Norway. The 19-year-old is widely seen as one of the top youngsters in the world, and both Manchester giants might be looking to snap him up sooner than later.
Race heating up to sign the talented Norwegian youngster?
They are not the lone teams interested in the the 19-year-old, however. Anderlecht and AZ Alkmaar, as well as clubs in Germany and Italy, are keen to make a move for him. Anderlecht and AZ Alkmaar might have the edge since they can offer him first-team football right away, something that would be more diffcult to attain at the Premier League level. It only takes one minute or two to see how good he already is.
There’s no question this lad is filled with potential. He’s already an international with Norway’s U-20 squad. However, he could make the jump to the senior side sooner than later. Evjen has been compared with Real Madrid prospect Martin Odegaard, and both share a similar ceiling. There’s no question him joining Manchester United would allow him to reach the next level in his development.
Let’s see if either side manages to sign him once the market opens in January next year. But there’s no question Manchester United could benefit from a player with his technical skills.
