Manchester United will play their fourth game of the 2019 Pre Season Tour and will aim to continue their undefeated run before the start of the 2019/20 season.
The Red Devils have already defeated Perth Glory, Leeds United and Inter Milan in their first three games. Now they will take on a Premier League opponent, since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will face Tottenham Hotspur this Thursday in Shanghai, China.
What are the team news prior to the match?
As it has been the trend over the Pre Season Tour, Solskjaer will probably try to give minutes to several players to give them some much-needed match fitness. However, both Romelu Lukaku and Tahith Chong trained away from the group, meaning they could miss this clash on the world’s most populous country. Lee Grant joined the training session alongside the rest of the goalkeepers, so the veteran could see action as well if needed.
Victor Lindelof also took part in the training session. Let’s remember the Swedish centre-back left the previous friendly with a knock.
Considering both Chong and Lukaku might miss this clash, Mason Greenwood could very well get even more minutes in this tour. The 17-year-old striker is United’s joint top-scorer so far in the Tour with two goals in three matches.
What about the opponents?
Tottenham Hotspur are not reporting any absences ahead of this match. They have already left their mark in the transfer market since they acquired Lyon star midfielder Tanguy Ndombele to bolster their depth in the middle of the pitch. One of their top results during the current Pre Season Tour was their 3-2 win over Juventus thanks to a winning strike from Harry Kane on stoppage time.
What’s Manchester United’s record in Pre Season so far?
The Red Devils have been perfect in Pre Season thus far. They kicked things off with a 2-0 win over Perth Glory, and then registered back-to-back wins over Leeds United (4-0) and Inter Milan (1-0). Most notably, they’re yet to concede a goal and the new players – such as Aaron Wan-Bissaka – have looked impressive.
Now it’s time for Solskjaer’s men to deliver another impressive performance. This time, against an opponent they will meet at least twice during the 2019-20 season.
