Man United News: Pogba And Juve, Lukaku Replacements And James Maddison

Pogba And Possible Juventus Return

Juventus have begun talks of a possible return for Paul Pogba to the Allianz Stadium, according to reports in Italy. Highly rated Di Marzio reports that the Turin club are looking into ways to return the Frenchman this summer. Sky in Italy go even further, reporting that Juve sporting director Fabio Paratici has approached Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola and United to discuss a potential deal.

Man United are reportedly demanding more than the £89 million they paid for Pogba in August 2016. Also, it is possible that Juventus would be interested in including some of their players to go the other way to Old Trafford as part of the deal.

This was mentioned here and there in the previous weeks and months, but it is the first time this year that more specific news have been revealed. Pogba had a season with many ups and downs, being heavily criticized by the press and fans and that might play a role in his decision if it comes to that.

Who Could Replace Lukaku?

Romelu Lukaku is still being linked with a move to Inter Milan this summer. Couple of days ago we mentioned that that might not happen, simply because Inter are close to signing veteran striker Edin Dzeko from AS Roma. If that transfer finalizes, it is hard seeing Nerazzuri going for another forward, especially a pricey one as Lukaku would be.

But nevertheless, TalkSPORT made a list of five forwards that could replace the big Belgian in the case of his departure. And we have to admit it, it is an underwhelming list. Not because the players are bad, but simply because many of these potential transfers seem unrealistic.

One of them is Nicolas Pepe, who is right winger and not striker, but who impressed at Lille. However, he might end up at Bayern Munich or PSG. Antoine Griezmann is next, but nothing indicates United could be the club paying 125 million euros for the Frenchman. Barcelona are still the hot favourites to snap him up.

Then there is Luka Jovic and it is a similar story with Griezmann. It looks like United are not looking at the player that is heavily rumoured to be going to Real Madrid. Mauro Icardi could be a good option considering Dzeko’s imminent arrival at Giuseppe Meazza, but his character is very questionable. Moussa Dembele looks the most realistic of this quintet.

James Maddison On The Radar

You know how everyone is mentioning Man United’s idea to sign talented domestic players? Now we have another one of them being linked with a move to Old Trafford. That is Leicester City’s James Maddison. The 22-year-old is apparently one of the new targets and the Devils could be paying up to £60m in order to get the ‘number 10’.

Maddison will be playing at the upcoming U21 Euro in Italy and San Marino, representing England. He had a superb season at King Power Stadium, in his first Premier League campaign, with seven goals and seven assists to help the Foxes finish ninth.
