Sean Longstaff To Old Trafford?
It looks like Manchester United are getting closer to signing Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United. The Devils’ new mantra of signing ‘young, hungry, British’ players seems to be truthful, since Daniel James already joined from Swansea and now Longstaff could be on his way.
Metro report that he is close to becoming United’s second high-profile signing of the summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to the Mirror, believes United can capitalise on the uncertainty at Newcastle and secure the services of the England Under-21 international midfielder for as little as £25million. The Magpies were last month reported to be on the verge of being taken over by a Saudi-led investment group but that has failed to materialise, while the future of Rafa Benitez remains the subject of intense speculation.
However, it remains unknown why Metro feel like signing Longstaff is a bargain, since the Englishman has played just one half-season of the last Premier League campaign. If this transfer materializes, we will be talking about Longstaff in more detail, but right now this looks like an underwhelming move, in a day when West Ham have signed talented Pablo Fornals from Villarreal for £24m.
Rabiot Talks Juventus
Adrien Rabiot has been mentioned as Man United target for quite some time, ever since the Devils eliminated Paris Saint-Germain from the Champions League in early March. However, nothing is certain right now, except that there are other clubs interested in him as well, most prominently Juventus. The player himself spoke to the media about his next club and while he did not reveal any final decision, he did mention Manchester United.
‘I’ve spoken with Juventus, it’s a great club where everyone would like to play,’ Rabiot told Corriere dello Sport. ‘I like Italy so much, it’s wonderful here. A demanding season awaits me. At Juventus? Juve watched me and we talked about it, but I can’t say anything. ‘Manchester United? It’s the same as last year, I have to decide. I’m on vacation for now. Soon you will know.’
What that means in the end remains to be seen, but if Juventus are truly interested in the Frenchman, it is hard seeing him choosing Manchester United. With Juventus he would be playing with Cristiano Ronaldo and winning Serie A, while also playing in the Champions League.
Wan-Bissaka ‘favours United move’
There are also some news regarding Manchester United’s move for Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka. After it was reported that Man United have sent an offer worth £40m and that Eagles rejected it, new info appeared on Friday.
Sam Pilger claims Man United are determined to sign Wan-Bissaka and are likely to return with an increased offer of around £50 million in the coming days. Player wants the move to happen and become the new Devil, while also believing that Palace will accept the new offer. That makes sense from their perspective, as they would be getting almost as much money as Real Madrid paid for Luka Jovic, one of the most wanted young strikers.
