Robin Van Persie signs for Manchester United

Robin Van Persie in his Arsenal days
Robin Van Persie has signed for Manchester United from Arsenal for a reported £22 million transfer fee (only £15m up front) subject to a medical and personal terms being agreed. One of the most eyebrow raising transfers of all time is now official, Van Persie is now a Manchester United player. Sir Alex Ferguson will see this as a massive triumph after seeing over challenges from Serie A champions Juventus and most importantly Manchester City. The Dutchman notched up thirty league goals last term and the prospect of lining up with Wayne Rooney should have most Reds licking their lips.

Manchester United released the following statement earlier this evening:

Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached agreement with Arsenal Football Club for the transfer of Robin van Persie.

The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms. A further announcement will be made in due course.

Van Persie is expected to travel to Manchester tomorrow to finalise the deal and be unveiled as a United player once the medical is complete. United welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford on November 3rd, whilst travel to the Ducthman’s former home ground on the 27th April 2013. Both ties are a mouth watering prospect.

1 Comment on Robin Van Persie signs for Manchester United

  1. he’s key questions here are what does this mean for hernadez and welbeck future both are at the stage of their careers where game time is importantly needed for them to kick on.
what about the supossed move to 4231, it going to make kagawa shift wide and rotate with other wide players, dont get me wrong i dont think he would have played all the time but he needs to be in the middle in his most effective position.
plus with van persie coming in i think this could be rooneys last season before moving abroad. (just a long term thought.)
and what about trying to reinforce the middle. we desperately need some one there unless jones, keane are going to be expected to cover for injury prone cleverely and anderson and an old giggs and scholes.

this move will make us an even more of a counter attcking team against the bigger side in europe than we already are.

i look forward to seeing him play for united but i think at £22m going for alex song would have been a much more worth while signing.

i just hope now we dont pay another 10-15m on baines, he’s just not worth it. so much for buying young with re-sale value.
