It seems our servers are back up and running, so now I bring you today’s edition of Stretty Stories. Chicharito scored on for Chivas on his goodbye, our rivals are making a move for a long-term United target, Kuszczak has his sights set on the No. 1 shirt, and David Gill did an exclusive Q&A with ManUtd.com.

Chicharito scores goodbye goal as Chivas defeats United – The Guardian

Javier Hernandez gave Chivas fans the perfect parting gift as he scored in his first-half appearance for the club. Chicharito then donned the United jersey for a 20-minute cameo in the second half, but his new team couldn’t manage to get the win. Chivas won 3-2 with fellow new-boy Chris Smalling and Nani getting the goals for United. Its preseason, so I’m not really too concerned about the loss, especially considering Chicharito got a goal. I’m just happy that he continues to prove what an incredible goalscorer he is. He’ll certainly less Rooney’s burden if he keeps up his fantastic form.

Hodgson swoops to steal Defour – The Daily Mail

If there is even a remote amount of validity to this story, then I can’t help but think we may sign Defour this summer. Woy Hodgson is apparently interested in signing Steven Defour to replace the soon-to-depart Javier Mascherano, which certainly won’t go over well with Sir Alex, whose admiration of the midfielder is widely-acknowledged. Sir Alex has never been one to lose to Liverpool on or off the field (Gabby Heinze anyone?) so I can’t imagine him letting Liverpool sign a player whose been a target of his for awhile. If Woy tries to make a move for the Standard Liege captain, I imagine Sir Alex will make his move as well.

Kuszczak eyes Ed’s No. 1 shirt – The Sun

Personally, I always prefer when replacements come from within the club, but I’m not sure Kuszczak has the ability to be first-choice in goal. He’s an excellent deputy, but a starter? I’m not sure. He’s certainly won me over a lot since his arrival at Old Trafford. In his first few seasons I was not at all convinced, but last season he really started to show his quality. He made some top saves last term while filling in for van der Sar. Either way, it’s nice to see such confidence and determination from our beloved Pole in Goal. With Edwin still around for another season, Kuszczak should still have plenty of opportunities to show why he should inherit the gloves when Edwin retires.

Exclusive Q&A : David Gill – ManUtd.com

I’m not really sure whether I believe half the stuff that comes out of David Gill’s mouth, so I’m not even going to comment on it. No reason to waste my time on potential lies. If you’re interested in what he had to say, I still suggest reading it.
