Manchester United are currently in a terrible moment in the season and are set to host Luton Town at Old Trafford. This could prove to be a perfect opponent to boost the broken confidence ahead of the upcoming international break.

Team News

There are plenty of problems for Manchester United ahead of this match in terms of personnel. Casemiro is out due to a hamstring injury, Lisandro Martinez is still recovering from foot injury, while Luke Shaw is out due to a muscle problem. Then there are Amad Diallo and Tyrell Malacia with knee injuries and Jadon Sancho, who has had disciplinary problems and could never again play for this club. Jonny Evans is also out after a muscle problem against Copenhagen, which means we will have to see some more of changeups around the starting lineup. It will be interesting to see which kind of back four will Ten Hag come up with this time around, as Raphael Varane will be waiting to get recalled as the starting centre-back.

On the other hand, Luton have their problems too. Thigh injuries are quite an occurence there, with Mads Andersen, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Reece Burke set to miss the trip to Manchester due to it. Daniel Pots and Jordan Clark are out due to ankle injuries, while Cauley Woodrow will have to sit this one out because of his calf. Amari’i Bell could be back in the team after his thigh problem, while it could also be interesting to see Ross Barkley start in midfield for the visitors.

Form Guide

After going on a three-match winning streak against Brentford, Sheffield United and Copenhagen, there were hopes around Old Trafford that this could be the upturn that could give Ten Hag some breathing space and get his team to keep moving forward. But since then, there was the hard return to reality with two 3-0 losses at Old Trafford at the hands of Manchester City and Newcastle United. The Red Devils did beat Fulham in London afterwards, but have then suffered their third loss in the last three matches: a 4-3 horror-show in Copenhagen. That is why the match against Luton is especially important for everyone, before the international break.

As for Luton, they are not doing great and no one is really surprised. The newcomers to the Premier League have won just six points in the first 11 matches and are currently sitting in relegation zone, together with the other two times who just arrived from the Championship. After beating Everton 2-1 at the Goodison at the end of September, they lost to Burnley, Tottenham and Aston Villa, getting their only points since in the two draws, against Nottingham Forest, but also Liverpool. That final result will be the special reason why United have to remain on their toes and not underestimate Luton.

Predicted Outcome

Considering everything, the hosts will be heavy favourites, but with their recent struggles, we predict Manchester United will beat Luton 2-0. Their issues in attack are evident and we are not expecting the Devils to run riot, but get a decent, comfortable win either way.
