Manchester United began their 2019/20 Premier League with a convincing 4-0 win over Chelsea. That’s history, however, and they will face Wolverhampton this next Monday. However, this team can’t seem to escape controversy. Even when things are headed in the right direction.
And once again, the focus of the controversy is none other than Alexis Sanchez. This time, it has been rumoured that the Chilean has been sent to the Reserve squad. The details are unclear, but it happened following a problem with youngster Mason Greenwood during practice earlier this week. Due to this, it’s unlikely that he will gain any playing time on Monday against the Wolves.
Not everything is lost for Alexis. Solskjaer said the Chile international can be a “20-goal player” for Manchester United, but it’s up to him to re-discover his best form.
Sanchez, however, remains “available” on the market
But on the same note, Alexis apparently wants to leave Old Trafford. The problem is that no team wants him.
In fact, rumour has it that Alexis was offered to Napoli, but the Serie A giants rejected the chance to sign him. Plus, Sanchez has already said he doesn’t want to lose any of the wages he is currently earning at Old Trafford. That will make things even more complicated ahead of the September 2nd transfer deadline.
Right now, Sanchez will probably spend time with the Reserve squad as he works his way back to match fitness. This demotion is not a permanent thing and could only be temporary, but one thing is certain: the season didn’t start as the Chilean would have wanted. Unfortunately, that has become a trend for him even since he arrived at Old Trafford back in January 2018.
