Manchester United 4-1 Bournemouth: Three Things We Learned

Manchester United continue their perfect form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Red Devils have continued scoring goals for fun and winning matches without making their fans worry, as this time they dispatched Bournemouth in a 4-1 win at Old Trafford. The goals came from Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku, as Nathan Ake scored the only goal for Cherries.

It was a special joy to watch Solskjaer’s boys doing what they wanted from start to end in this match. Eddie Howe’s team continued their poor form and against United they could even be slightly satisfied with just the four goals they conceded.

Here is what we learned from this match.

Marcus Rashford Was Unplayable

What a performance this was from Marcus Rashford. Right from the start of the match, the young Englishman was simply unstoppable. That especially goes for his first half performance, as Rashford looked like he could do anything he wanted. Bournemouth defenders must have felt like they were in a nightmare at some points.

Rashford had a goal and an assist inside the first half, but he also pulled of dribbles and runs past his markers to constantly create problems for Bournemouth. This performance will be the one to show to everyone who think Rashford is not as good as the United fans believe he is. A special night indeed.

Pogba Is Incredible, But What Does That Truly Tell Us?

It was another great performance from Paul Pogba. The Frenchman scored a brace in consecutive matches, as his goals gave United a 2-0 lead just after the half hour mark. It was great to see him once again enjoying himself and also making those players around him look better. His passing range was great once more, but the whole performance is raising another question. Whose fault it is that Pogba was so poor under Mourinho?

The first instinct might be to say simply Mourinho, but was Pogba “tanking” under Jose? Was he just so eager to see the former manager leave and then start working as hard as he should? Will Pogba do that with every manager he works with? Because it seems obvious that was the case this time.

David Brooks Shows Special Talent

Bournemouth could not do much against a team playing so well, but there was one bright spot for Howe. His name is David Brooks. The 21-year old Welshman showed his potential against a tough team and amongst the players that did not perform to their best levels. Brooks showed how creative he is and how good on the ball he is, always moving, twisting and turning.

In the end, he created chances and the one he created turned out to be a goal. Bigger Premier League sides should not buy him just yet, but they should be keeping their eyes on him. Brooks truly possesses talent to become a great Premier League player, but his development must not be interrupted with a transfer to a team where he would not be playing regularly.
