Manchester United have opened talks to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan this summer, according to Sky Sports.
The Croatia international has had an excellent season for the Nerazurri, scoring ten goals in 30 Serie A starts for the Milanese outfit.
The report suggests that talks are already underway to bring Perisic to Old Trafford, with both the player and Inter open to doing the deal over the summer.
Jose Mourinho’s attack looks set to be revamped this summer, with high-profile reports linking United to the likes of Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann and Torino forward Andrea Belotti.
The Red Devils have been overly reliant on Zlatan Ibrahimovic for goals in 2016-17 and as such additional firepower is expected to be signed at considerable expense before next season.
Perisic would offer skill, pace, versatility and a goal threat from wide areas if he moved to United, with the 28-year-old proving himself for club and country as an excellent player.
The Croatian has been one of Inter’s better performers over the last 24 months, carrying over the form that he showed at Wolfsburg to earn a move to Serie A in the first place.
With the 28-year-old in the pinnacle of his career, Perisic’s addition would bring another proven player to United in the final third.
Mourinho has deployed the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford in wide areas this season, despite both players preferring to operate as a centre forwards.
Perisic’s signing would bring an out-and-out winger to Old Trafford and help to stretch opponents as the Croat likes to hug the touchline and take on opposition full-backs.
The eastern European star would also be afforded Champions League football at United – something not on offer at Inter.
