Ashley Young will miss the rest of the season after picking up an ankle injury

Manchester United winger Ashley Young will miss the rest of the season after picking up an ankle injury in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City two weeks ago.

Young and Manchester City captain Pablo Zabaleta had an altercation and in old school style, the Argentinian “got one over” the wide man and committed a late foul, which drew a booking. Young has played 23 times for United this season, grabbing four assists but failing to hit the back of the net this term.

Sir Alex Ferguson spoke to MUTV earlier today:

“Ashley is out for the season. We thought it’d be maybe two or three weeks but now he’s been down to the specialist and that’s why you saw him at the game on Wednesday. We took him down to a specialist in London and the prognosis was not very good at all. We’re going to lose him for the rest of the season.”

Ashley Young will miss the visit of Aston Villa, his former club, on Monday evening and we’ve put together some great odds for you ahead of the match:

  • Manchester United have a best price with bet365 and Betfred to win the match – both at 1.25.
  • Coral have Robin van Perise at 4.5 to open the scoring against Villa and Coral also have the Dutchman at 1.91 to score anytime.
  • If you’re looking for an alternative to score first, why not back Shinji Kagawa who is priced at 8 each way with Ladbrooks.

  1. I’m in shock to leave any comment ! 13% think this guy has been a success, he is an average player – 16 million rather have Sissoko or diame that would of been money better invested.

  2. I was watching Gillete Soccer last week, and Charlie Nicholas provided an insightful story. He said that after the 1997 Champions League semi-final he told people in a room that “Cantona was not good enough…..and was finished”. It made me think because Ferguson must have had similar thoughts over some of the current crop. The main name that comes to mind is Ashley Young. The lad is not good enough and has been a disappointing since arriving.
