Ryan Giggs, September's Player of the Month

Giggs

Player of the Month -

No surprises here as Ryan Giggs’ excellent form saw him steal the show every time he took to the pitch in September.

From his man of the match masterclass at White Hart Lane where he kept up his impressive record of scoring in each of the 18 Premier League seasons with a stunning free kick, to a one man assist machine in the Manchester derby and a similar rescue act at the Brittania stadium, ending with getting United out of jail against Wolfsburg, Giggs’ impressive showings were backed up with 2 goals and a staggering 6 assists to add to the three goals he provided for his team mates in August.

Bruce: 1999? 2008? Nah – 93/94 was the best!

Bruce and Pallister

Sunderland manager and ex Manchester United captain Steve Bruce reckons that the 1993/94 side assembled by Sir Alex Ferguson was his best side ever – more so than the double winning side of 2008 and the treble side of 1999. Bruce signed in 1987 for £800,000 from Norwich and helped United win a number of honours before moving onto Birmingham City in 1996. Bruce will always be remembered for his two late goals against Sheffield Wednesday in 1993 – which gave United a 2-1 lead and one hand on the title.

Abysmal, lacklustre but very very lucky – Manchester United salvaged an injury time draw against a Sunderland side that had completely dominated and outplayed them at Old Trafford.

A selection that excluded the injured Michael Owen and the rested Ryan Giggs was always likely to be struggling to find a plan B – no strikers on the bench, and an odd midfield that featured Welbeck out wide meant that it was plan A or bust for the Premier League Champions. On the first half evidence it was truly “bust”, as Sunderland’s energetic midfield thoroughly outran their opponents. The early exchanges were dominated by the visitors and on 7 minutes they were rewarded with a 20 yard strike from in-form Darren Bent.

IRREFUTABLE proof - Rooney is better than Torres. By a scouser.

Rooney

Through the glory of weblinks I discovered apparent “revealed proof” that Fernando Torres is better than Wayne Rooney.  Indeed, the writer excitedly states it’s “irrefutable”.

Jeebus, I thought, has the writer of this blog discovered something that is tangible and definitive enough to finally dispel the purpose of opinion?? And if he has, what is he doing wasting it on a comparison about football players??
