Amorim’s Bold Decisions Rewarded At Anfield
Ruben Amorim’s tactical bravery was vindicated as his pre-match changes proved decisive in Manchester United’s historic 2–1 victory over Liverpool. Many supporters were uneasy when they saw that the manager had opted for Harry Maguire and Casemiro, two players often criticised for their lack of pace, while leaving in-form striker Benjamin Sesko out of the starting line-up.

Mbeumo’s Rapid Rise Continues
Bryan Mbeumo’s swift adaptation to life at Manchester United has justified INEOS’s persistence during the summer transfer window. The club spent weeks negotiating with Brentford, whose initial refusals of £55 million and £62.5 million bids delayed the move. Eventually, United’s third offer of £65 million sealed the deal, and the Cameroonian forward signed a five-year contract.
Since joining, Mbeumo has started every Premier League match and contributed significantly, now boasting three goals and one assist following his performance at Anfield. Within two minutes of kick-off, he stunned the home crowd by slotting in Amad’s pass to give United an early lead. Although Liverpool equalised late through Cody Gakpo, Maguire’s header restored the advantage and secured the points.
Across the ninety minutes, Mbeumo was a constant threat. He completed 80 per cent of his passes, recorded three shots and three crosses, and took 31 touches, three of which came inside the opposition area. Analyst StatmanDave highlighted that the winger “set the tone on a historic day,” as United ended their nine-and-a-half-year wait for a win at Anfield.
