Bayern Dismiss Links With Bruno Fernandes
German journalist Christian Falk has clarified the rumours suggesting that Bayern Munich are preparing a move for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes. The speculation had intensified in recent weeks, yet Falk has confirmed that the Bavarian giants have no interest in the Portuguese playmaker.
Despite the arrival of summer recruits Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, Fernandes remains one of United’s most influential figures. Michael Carrick has described him as among the finest players of his generation, and his display in the 2–1 triumph over Liverpool at Anfield reaffirmed that view. However, questions about his future persist, with reports claiming this could be his final campaign at Old Trafford.
Falk explained that Bayern have made no plans to pursue Fernandes, as Vincent Kompany and the club hierarchy are satisfied with their current attacking options. Jamal Musiala continues to be regarded as both the present and future in the number ten role, while Serge Gnabry has filled in effectively when required. With Bayern out of contention, speculation now turns once again to Saudi Arabia, where clubs such as Al-Hilal have previously attempted to lure Fernandes. The Daily Mail has reported that he could consider a move to another leading European side if United fail to qualify for the Champions League, though his contract runs until 2027, leaving any potential sale more likely in 2026 should a significant bid arrive.
United Eye Mexican Prodigy Gilberto Mora
Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Mexican teenager Gilberto Mora, whose performances at the recent FIFA U20 World Cup have earned him comparisons to Bruno Fernandes. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder, already capped three times for the senior Mexico side, impressed with his creativity and composure throughout the tournament.
Mora recorded an assist in the 2–2 draw with Brazil, struck twice against Spain, and netted the decisive goal versus Morocco in the group stage. He later helped Mexico defeat Chile 4–1 in the Round of 16 before the team were eliminated by Argentina in the quarter-finals. Scouts from several European clubs, including United and Barcelona, have reportedly taken notice of his performances, according to The Sun.
Although Mora’s skill, vision and leadership mark him as an exciting prospect, he cannot move to Europe until he turns 18 in October 2026. For now, he will continue to develop at Club Tijuana, where he joined the first team in 2024. United view him as a potential long-term successor to Fernandes, but competition for places in attacking midfield is fierce following the arrivals of Cunha and Mbeumo, as well as Mason Mount’s resurgence. With academy star Shea Lacey also pushing for senior involvement, finding room for another creative midfielder could prove difficult.
