Van de Beek Set for Eintracht Frankfurt Loan Move

Donny van de Beek is poised to complete his loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt, with a medical scheduled in the next 24 hours. The Manchester United midfielder, who has struggled for game time, is eager to seal the move, even if it’s just for the remainder of the 2023/24 season. Van de Beek’s contribution this term has been minimal, with just 21 minutes of action across two substitute appearances – one in the Premier League and another in the Carabao Cup. His involvement has often been limited to a spot on the bench or, more frequently, being left out of the squad entirely.

Supporters will hardly be surprised by his lack of minutes. The Dutch international’s struggles have been a recurring theme since his arrival in 2020, and Erik ten Hag made it clear last season that Van de Beek was not part of his future plans. Despite interest from other clubs in the summer transfer window, Van de Beek opted to stay at Old Trafford, hoping to fight for his place.

However, with no signs of his situation improving, the 26-year-old is now ready for a fresh challenge in the Bundesliga. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the loan deal will be finalised this week, provided Van de Beek passes his medical. The agreement includes a €15 million (£13m) buy option, but this is not mandatory, leaving the door open for a return to United in June 2024. If Eintracht Frankfurt decide to make the move permanent, United stand to lose £27 million on Van de Beek, who was signed for £40 million three years ago.

RB Leipzig Eye Sancho

Jadon Sancho’s future at Manchester United remains uncertain, with RB Leipzig now expressing interest in signing the 23-year-old winger, according to Christian Falk. Sancho is one of the most likely players to depart Old Trafford in the January transfer window, following a public fallout with Erik ten Hag and a prolonged absence from the squad. Sancho’s last appearance for United came against Nottingham Forest on August 26, and he has since been frozen out after refusing to apologise to Ten Hag for a social media post in which he implied the manager had lied about his performances in training. With first-team opportunities at United looking unlikely, a move abroad seems the most viable option for the former Borussia Dortmund star.

Alongside RB Leipzig, both Juventus and Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a move for Sancho. However, one obstacle for Leipzig could be Sancho’s substantial wages, reported to be £350,000 per week. Should United be determined to offload the winger, they may need to contribute towards his salary, particularly if the deal is a loan rather than a permanent transfer. A return to Germany could be Sancho’s best route back to regular football, as he is reportedly not keen on a move to Saudi Arabia, which has also been touted as an option.
