Man United Plan To Offer Pogba New Contract, Martial Is Getting Better

Man United To Offer Pogba Contract Extension

Manchester United plan to offer Paul Pogba new contract, Evening Standard are reporting. The idea is that, should the player refuse to sign a new deal, that would be a clear signal to the club that Pogba truly does not want to stay at the club. Therefore, Man United would have to consider selling him before his value drops.

The reason for the value of Pogba potentially going down would be that his contract would be getting closer to the end. Pogba joined the club in 2016, signing a five-year deal and next summer that deal would be getting into its final year.

This might not be the end of the world – after all, we have seen Chelsea get 100 million pounds for Eden Hazard, who was also entering his last year of contract – but it is not helpful. Man United are a club that has been troubled with players getting closer to the end of their contracts and that is the time when the club is in a weaker position.

With Pogba being Man United’s most prized asset, he could bring the most money if he was to be sold. But the club should try and get him to sign a new deal. Another ‘no’ to the club would mean that he needs to go. For now, the focused Pogba is the one this team needs the most.

Fred Is Close To Becoming A ‘Symbol’ Of Modern Man United

Fred joined Manchester United in summer of 2018 for a fee of around 50 million pounds, but he still has not proved his worth. Last season was mostly not a good one, with some decent performances here and there. But the 2019-20 season is proving to be a big problem for the Brazilian.

Not only he did not play a single minute this season, but he has not been in any of the four matchday squads. Solskjaer obviously does not believe he is good enough for this team, at least not for now. Scott McTominay has the obvious advantage over him, while Nemanja Matic also got his chance in the last match United played.

Fred’s accustoming to England has not been easy and it seems like he has big problems of proving himself to the manager. We do not know what is happening on the training ground and his issues are maybe even bigger now, with his confidence not being at a high level. In the next couple of months, he could become emblematic of all the issues Man United have – from poor scouting, to overpriced signings and lack of any idea what to do when things go wrong.

Good News About Martial

And finally, there are some good news regarding our squad. Anthony Martial should be ready for Manchester United’s next match, against Leicester City in Premier League. That match is scheduled for Saturday, 14 September, which is the first round of matches after the international break.

This is an important piece of information for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He does not have a huge squad, especially the squad depth is troubling in those forward positions and the manager needs all of his players to be healthy. Man United played without Martial against Southampton and it was obvious that changing things around created some new problems, with Marcus Rashford moving up front and Andreas Pereira occupying the right wing.
