FC Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Marcus Rashford this next summer. And they’re open to do whatever it takes to land the coveted forward. Including sending one of the top recent signings in exchange for him.

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are gearing up to offer Philippe Coutinho to Manchester United in exchange for Rashford. Now, it remains to be seen whether this deal could actually become a reality. There’s no indication that United are willing to move Rashford, and there’s no certainty on Coutinho agreeing on a move to the Old Trafford side. He became a Liverpool legend, and he’s reportedly “not keen” to join their biggest rivals.

But here’s the thing. Coutinho will leave Barcelona one way or another. He hasn’t lived up to expectations, and right now he’s behind Ousmane Dembele on the race to become the team’s third forward. And if he wants to get back to his best form, then a return to the Premier League would be his best alternative. After all, Coutinho became one of the best playmakers in the world while featuring for The Reds. Could he replicate that form with Manchester United?

In any case, this deal would hang on United’s stance regarding Rashford. And there’s no way The Red Devils are going to let him walk. Even if they also include Malcom or Dembele as trade chips. Rashford has everything to become a key figure on United’s squads for years to come. He’s been one of the best forwards in the Premier League this season. And considering his age, he’s only going to get better.

We can put this one in the rear view. Rashford is not going to leave Manchester United any time soon. And that’s a good thing for the club moving forward. He’s the kind of player you build a team around, not one you sell to a bigger club. Especially if United’s goal is to compete for European silverware in the near future.
