Manchester United continue to bolster their Academy ranks with some of the most talented players in the world.

The Red Devils earlier this season brought Arnau Puigmal and Aliou Traore. while in-house alternatives such as Tahith Chong and Andre Gomes have already made strides in their way to move closer to the first team. But United remain active on the market looking for young players. This time, they have added another talented youngster.

It has been confirmed that United have taken teenage Colombian sensastion Wilson Tilve on trial, according to a report from the Manchester Evening News. The talented forward, who deploys as a natural n° 10 but can also operate on an advanced role, is being “assessed” at Old Trafford. Several teams on his country remain interested in him. But it seems United could be close to sign him – as long as the trial is successful.

Tilve currently plays for Club Atletico Colombia de Cartagena, and several experts have dubbed him as “the new James Rodriguez”. That’s lofty praise for such a young player. And United are willing to take a chance to see whether he is as good as the local reports indicate. At the very least, they do not lose anything bringing him on board for a few weeks.

This move shows United are thinking towards the future

The potential arrival of Tilve is the latest example of the amazing work United have been doing revamping the academy ranks under Nicky Butt. The results are there for everyone to see them. Kieran McKenna’s U-18 side currently tops the league while some of their best players have been promoted already. For instance, Gomes got promoted to the U23 side, and already made his FA Cup debut against Yeovil a few weeks. And Chong is catching the eye as a brilliant winger prospect.

Only time will tell if Tilve fits the bill and if he becomes the latest international import to United’s academy. But the sole idea of him training with the team is already a huge step going forward.
