Man United Agree Deal For Ashworth
Manchester United have reached an agreement with Newcastle United for the appointment of Dan Ashworth as their new sporting director. Negotiations between the clubs had been ongoing for weeks, with difficulties in finalising a compensation package. However, according to a report from The Athletic, the deal is now complete, and Ashworth is set to commence his role immediately.
Ashworth’s tenure at Newcastle was marked by significant achievements, and his arrival at Manchester United is anticipated to have a considerable impact. The Red Devils have struggled with their transfer dealings in recent seasons, often investing heavily in underwhelming players. With Ashworth and Omar Berrada joining the club, there is hope that their expertise will enhance Manchester United’s recruitment strategy and improve the value extracted from their signings.
Marc Guehi Is New Devils Target
Manchester United are exploring several defensive options this summer, with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi emerging as a key target. Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth revealed on Give Me Sport that Guehi, a 23-year-old England international, is among the defenders under consideration.
In addition to Guehi, Manchester United are evaluating other prospects, including Lille’s Leny Yoro and Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt. With the team having conceded 58 goals in the league last season, strengthening the defence is a priority. Guehi’s consistent performances for Crystal Palace make him a promising candidate, and his potential addition could significantly bolster Manchester United’s backline as they aim to challenge for major trophies next season.
Arsenal Not Interested In Sancho
Arsenal have reportedly been presented with the opportunity to sign Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho. However, according to Standard, the Gunners have opted to decline the offer due to Sancho’s substantial wages.
Sancho, earning around £250,000 per week, is deemed too expensive for Arsenal’s current budget. Despite the need for additional depth on the flanks, Arsenal are unwilling to commit to such a high salary. The 24-year-old, who has seen his role diminish at Manchester United, enjoyed a successful loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, contributing significantly to their UEFA Champions League campaign. With Sancho seeking a permanent move away from Old Trafford, it remains to be seen where his next destination will be.
