Ten Hag Convinces Bologna Striker to Join United
Manchester United are actively pursuing their summer transfer targets, and fans are eager to see who will be the first to don the red shirt in the upcoming weeks.
Among the players heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford are Matthijs de Ligt, Manuel Ugarte, and Joshua Zirkzee. Reports suggest that all three are open to joining United if their current clubs agree to their departures. While United face competition for Zirkzee, they appear to be in a strong position to secure his signature. AC Milan have also shown interest, with former coach Stefano Pioli praising Zirkzee’s abilities last season.
With their focus now shifting to other attacking options, United are reportedly ready to trigger Zirkzee’s £34 million release clause. According to Italian outlet Corriere de Bologna, as reported by GiveMeSport, the Dutch striker has agreed to join Manchester United following positive discussions with manager Erik ten Hag.
United Open to Selling Maguire
Manchester United are prepared to entertain offers for Harry Maguire. Despite being a key defender last season with 31 appearances, Maguire missed the latter part of the season, including the FA Cup final and the European Championship. TalkSPORT reports that United are ready to sell Maguire for the second consecutive summer. Last year, West Ham expressed interest, but the move fell through when Maguire declined to leave. It remains to be seen if West Ham will renew their interest under their new manager.
Maguire’s place at United has been uncertain, particularly with injuries affecting key defenders. With Raphael Varane now a free agent and United prioritising the acquisition of a new centre-back, Maguire’s future remains in flux. Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt has emerged as a primary target, and recent reports suggest De Ligt might accept a pay cut to join United.
With Maguire entering the final year of his contract, United are keen to sell rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next summer. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is focused on correcting past transfer market errors, and Maguire’s departure could be part of that process. Gareth Southgate’s decision to exclude Maguire from Euro 2024 due to injury adds further uncertainty about his future.
