Manchester United’s transfer window is in full swing and the club is preparing the first deals of the summer. Many players have been linked with the Devils, almost as if it is a tradition, but it still remains to be seen which of them will come to Old Trafford. There has been the most talk about Frenkie de Jong, Barcelona midfielder who is the number one target of Erik ten Hag. New Man United manager has worked with the talented Dutchman at Ajax few years ago and he knows him very well. But the central midfield position is not the only one United will be looking to strengthen. There has been talk of a striker, a centre-back, but more intriguingly, of a right-back. Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are team’s clear option for that position currently at the club, but who could be the players United could be looking at during this window?

Here, we will not be looking at the players who were often linked with United, such as now Newcastle’s right-back Kieran Trippier. Now we will be looking at some less known players.

Nordi Mukiele

Nordi Mukiele is a 24-year-old Frenchman who has made his debut for the national team, but who has impressed the most at RB Leipzig. He joined the German club in 2019 and since has been improving year on year. He is a type of player who has played in a similar system to Ten Hag’s and could be an interesting option if United are to really push for a new player in this position.

Tariq Lamptey

Now this is the player Man United fans know much better from the Premier League. We have previously mentioned the London-born 21-year-old and he is a player who has impressed at Brighton, ever since making the switch from Chelsea’s youth ranks. Lamptey is a combative, but also intelligent and pacey right-back who has done very well under Graham Potter, another manager who likes his teams to build out from the back and dominate possession.

Jeremie Frimpong

We have had in mind that this list has to be realistic in terms of Ten Hag being the manager of Man United and now we have found an talented right-back who is also from the Netherlands. Jeremie Frimpong is 21 years old and comes from Amsterdam, but has interestingly spent three years at Man City’s academy before moving to Celtic in 2019. There he did improved massively, earning him a move to Bayer Leverkusen. Bundesliga has fitted him, with his pacey transitions and he might be one to follow for Man United scouts.

Lutsharel Geertruida

And another Dutch player is on this list, but from the Dutch Eredivisie. Lutsharel Geertruida is a 22-year-old right-back from Feyenoord Rotterdam. Ten Hag has had the chance to see him develop from a teenager entering first team in 2018 to becoming a reliable, attacking-oriented full-back who has enjoyed the best season of his career last season. He might not catch the attention of the media, but with Ten Hag’s great understanding of Eredivisie, he knows best whether Geertruida could be a solution for United.
