Milan Eye Rashford Amid Old Trafford Exile
AC Milan are keen to seize the opportunity to sign Marcus Rashford, who has fallen out of favour at Manchester United. With the forward sidelined for over a month, Milan have emerged as frontrunners in the race to secure his signature. Sunday’s win against Arsenal marked the seventh consecutive match Rashford has missed, either watching from the stands or left at home. Manager Ruben Amorim remained non-committal when asked whether Rashford had played his final game for the club, saying: “I don’t know. We will see. He is a player for Manchester United. He loves this club, but I have to make choices. It is what it is.” Despite his lack of recent form, the 27-year-old has drawn interest from multiple clubs across Europe, including Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, and Juventus. Tottenham Hotspur have also held informal talks regarding a potential loan move.
Milan, however, are leading the chase. Rashford’s agent and brother, Dwaine Maynard, travelled to Italy last week to initiate discussions. Renowned journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that a meeting is set for Wednesday, where all parties will look to finalise the deal. Interestingly, Milan had also shown interest in Kyle Walker but prioritised Rashford, as Serie A regulations limit the number of English players in their squad.
Napoli Target Garnacho as Kvaratskhelia’s Successor
Napoli are reportedly preparing a bid for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho as they seek a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain. Kvaratskhelia, a pivotal figure in Napoli’s 2022/23 Scudetto triumph, has requested a move following a lucrative offer from PSG. His departure has left Napoli scrambling for a successor, and Garnacho has emerged as their primary target. According to Fichajes.net, the Serie A champions have tabled a €50 million bid for the 20-year-old Argentinian international. Garnacho, once central to Erik ten Hag’s plans, has seen his role diminish under Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system, where Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes occupy the creative roles behind the striker.
Adding to the uncertainty is Garnacho’s contract situation. Earning £50,000 per week, he remains one of the club’s lowest-paid players, and reports suggest he and his entourage are dissatisfied with stalled negotiations over improved terms. While Napoli appear determined, Garnacho has also been linked with a return to Atletico Madrid, where he began his career before joining Manchester United in 2020. United’s decision to sell or retain the young talent could shape the rest of their season.
