Could Ajax Re-Sign Eriksen?
Manchester United are actively seeking to offload Christian Eriksen this summer. The 32-year-old midfielder, who initially made a strong impression in his debut season at Old Trafford, has struggled to maintain the same level of impact in the last campaign. It has become evident that Eriksen is no longer fitting the high standards expected at the club.
According to Teamtalk, Ajax have shown interest in a loan move for their former player. However, United’s preference is for a permanent transfer rather than a temporary arrangement. Eriksen first made a name for himself between 2010 and 2013, and his successful stint at Tottenham Hotspur preceded his move to Manchester United. Ajax, having finished fifth in the Eredivisie last season, are keen on reintegrating him into their squad as they aim to improve their standing.
United’s transfer strategy involves significant expenditure, with plans to spend around £100m on defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt. Additionally, there is speculation about acquiring two new full-backs. To facilitate these signings, United must first generate funds by selling current players. Casemiro, Scott McTominay, Victor Lindelof, and Eriksen are among those identified as potential departures.
West Ham Pushing For Wan-Bissaka
West Ham United are refocusing their attention on Aaron Wan-Bissaka in their quest for a new right-back. Initially, there were reports suggesting that the Hammers had an agreement in place with Noussair Mazraoui. However, according to Florian Plettenberg, this deal has now fallen through, prompting West Ham to revisit their interest in the Manchester United defender.
Plettenberg indicates that new discussions regarding Wan-Bissaka are expected within the next 48 hours. United have reportedly adjusted their valuation of Wan-Bissaka to around £10-15m, which may make him a more viable option for West Ham. Diogo Dalot is set to be United’s starting right-back next season, but if Wan-Bissaka is sold, the club will need to secure a replacement, as Wan-Bissaka is currently the only recognised backup option.
