Antony Still Under Investigation

Manchester United winger Antony remains under investigation by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) following allegations made by his former partner Gabriela Cavallin. In a revealing interview with Brazilian outlet UOL in September 2023, Cavallin accused Antony of assault on three separate occasions between June 2022 and May 2023.

Antony has strongly denied these accusations, as well as similar claims made by Ingrid Lana and Rayssa de Freitas, both of which surfaced in the Brazilian media. While he has not been arrested, the player has voluntarily cooperated with authorities. As reported by The Athletic, GMP has confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing, and parallel investigations are also being conducted by Brazilian officials, though no conclusions have been reached.

Since arriving at Manchester United in August 2022, Antony’s form on the pitch has mirrored his off-field struggles. Despite a bright start, where he scored in his first three Premier League matches, his form has dipped, and he has struggled for consistency. The Brazilian has not played a full 90 minutes in a league match since December and is approaching a year without a Premier League goal. Erik ten Hag remains supportive of the €95 million signing, maintaining that Antony has more to offer despite his underwhelming performances this season.

United Monitor Atalanta’s Ederson

Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Atalanta midfielder Ederson, with scouts recently sent to watch him in action. The Brazilian U20 international, who operates as a defensive midfielder, has attracted attention from several clubs, including Newcastle, who were linked with him in January.

United have a history of doing business with Atalanta, having signed Rasmus Hojlund last summer and Amad Diallo in 2020. Now, the club may be adding Ederson to that list as they look to strengthen their midfield options, particularly with an eye on replacing Casemiro, whose performances have come under scrutiny this season.

Ederson, in his second season with Atalanta after joining from Salernitana in 2022, has been impressive, contributing six goals in all competitions this season. His dynamic playstyle, much like Casemiro’s, offers more than just defensive stability, making him an attractive prospect for United. According to the Daily Mail, United scouts watched him in Atalanta’s recent 2-2 draw against Juventus. With a reported price tag of £34 million, Ederson could be a key addition to United’s squad as they seek to refresh their midfield ahead of the next campaign.
