Lukaku To Leave Man United, Devils Look For Deadline Day Reinforcements

Lukaku To Have Inter Medical

Romelu Lukaku will leave Manchester United and join Inter Milan on the final day of the English summer transfer window, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. The expert on Italian transfer market confirmed today that Man United and Inter have found an agreement in regards to the transfer of the Belgian striker and Lukaku will be expected to pass his medical on Thursday. Provided that happens, he will sign the contract with the Serie A club and leave England after full eight seasons in the country.

Reportedly, Inter are to pay around 70 million pounds for Lukaku (add-ons included), which is not the ideal scenario for what Man United initially wanted, but considering the lack of time and their poor situation with the player, this seems like a good piece of business financially. Fabrizio Romano also claims that Lukaku has agreed a five-year contract with Inter, which will keep him at the club until June 2024. He will earn 300.000 pounds per week, or 15.6 million pounds per year.

This prolonged deal finally came to an end, as Inter realized that Man United will have to find a way to sell Lukaku, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not want to keep the Belgian part of the first team. Reports even suggested today that the manager ordered the player to train with the under-23 team and once that was known, there was virtually no way for United to keep him at the club past Thursday.

Inter took their chance after Juventus’ departure from the race and Antonio Conte will finally get the player he wanted to sign in 2017 when he was still at Chelsea. Lukaku leaves the club after two years and after never truly feeling like the perfect fit for this team. He scored 42 goals in all competitions for the Devils, which is nothing more than a decent goalscoring record for a striker United paid the second-highest fee in club’s history. With Man United expected to play a different style of football, one Lukaku does not fit, Solskjaer was glad to see him depart.

Now, there will be some other faces spearheading Man United’s attack.

No Llorente, Mandzukic Possible

Reports started swirling on Internet today that Manchester United are seriously considering signing Fernando Llorente on a free transfer. The Spaniard had left Tottenham Hotspur following a great finish to the previous season, dragging them to a Champions League final, but without great number of options to sign on the deadline day, media started speculating about him and the Devils.

However, various media outlets have suggested this is simply not true, with the club reportedly distancing from such talks, but Mario Mandzukic is still a possibility. The Croatia international could still join United on the last day of transfer window, but things still remain unknown on Wednesday night.

Inaki Williams Unrealistc Rumours

Some shocking rumours started on Wednesday night and they did not come from respectable sources. El Chiringuito suggested today that Man United are ready to sign Inaki Williams from Athletic Bilbao, going even so far to say they might be tempted to activate his release clause of 88 million pounds. That in itself is sufficiently unrealistic and therefore we will not be pointing out the obvious this time…
