Manchester United are in the process of tying down their young players. They already did it with Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial, and are in the process of extending the contract of David De Gea as well. But one young starlet had been missing: Marcus Rashford.

However, that’s no longer the case. According to several reports, The Red Devils have began talks to extend the 21-year-old’s contract at Old Trafford. Rashford has been nothing short of impressive in the past few weeks, and Manchester United want to make sure he’s not going anywhere. For what is worth, the striker has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent weeks. And while Rashford hasn’t said anything, United must tie him down quickly before it’s too late.

How advanced are the talks?

The negotiations between both parties are still on an early stages. But why wouldn’t they arrive at a good point? Rashford hasn’t shown any desire to leave the club. And as an Academy product, he feels proud of what he has accomplished at Old Trafford so far. Not to mention, he’s been a key member of the side this season. The England international has 10 goals and seven assists in 30 apperances in all competitions for The Red Devils. However, he’s been at his best since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

If we only count the games under the Norwegian’s tutelage, then we can see Rashford has six goals and two assists in eight Premier League matches. Those are star-player numbers. And they suggest Rashford is bound for a much-deserved contract extension. News and updates regarding this should be out soon, but the discussions are already taking place. And that’s a positive sign for a United side that is keen to lock up their young players as soon as possible.

Rashford is expected to play a key role for Manchester United in the upcoming Champions League tie against PSG, where The Red Devils are listed at 7/4 to reach the tournament’s quarterfinals.
