Manchester United are preparing for their match on Saturday against Brighton and Hove Albion. The travel to the southern coast will be a good opportunity to pick up points and maybe give some playing time to players that were not playing much this season. However, as the season is getting closer to an end, we will take a look at something more hypothetical than the match against Chris Hughton’s side.

What if Manchester United could get any player from any top 6 Premier League side this summer? Just one from each of the five clubs. The players we will look at are the players that would best into current Man United side and we will not really look into players who are playing in positions where United are already strong. Yes, Harry Kane would be a great striker, but the Devils already have a clear choice in Romelu Lukaku. We are looking at players that would significantly improve this team.

And yes, I know most of these players would be almost impossible to buy, but that is not the purpose of this article. The purpose is to see where are the rivals stronger than United.

Manchester City – Kevin De Bruyne

There are plenty of choices at Man City, but this time, De Bruyne is the pick. The Belgian would be an incredible addition in the center of the park. Imagine him playing alongside Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba… All three of them playing in a different style and offering various qualities to the team. It also highlights how much United need to improve in central midfield.

Liverpool – Mohamed Salah

It just had to be him. Manchester United are lacking in strong options at right wing as Mourinho often alternated between Martial, Lingard and Mata. Most of the time, neither of them really looked natural in that place, but the Egyptian definitely would. The harm he could offer would be incredible and United should look at someone who is more natural on the right, as most their attacking players are feeling good either on the left or in the middle.

Tottenham – Toby Alderweireld

Everyone has already talked about the possibility of Alderweireld joining Man United this summer. It is hard to tell how much truth there is to those reports, but the Belgian centre-back would be a huge upgrade for the Devils. His qualities are obvious for several seasons now and Man United to change things around in that area of the pitch. Of all five names, this one could actually play at Manchester come next season.

Chelsea – Marcos Alonso

Manchester United are also having troubles at left back. Marcos Alonso may be more of a left wingback, but his attacking qualities would offer a new dimension to the team. Ashley Young cannot offer much up front and is naturally right-footed, while Luke Shaw seems eager to leave the club. Another area where United need to improve and Chelsea found themselves a great solution where no team had been looking.

Arsenal – Mesut Ozil

There is no real obvious choice from Arsenal players, except for the German. He had already worked with Mourinho and could give a new quality to this team, but with Sanchez and Pogba in the team, it would be hard seeing all three of them on the pitch at the same time.
