Manchester United’s season is getting closer to an end. We are already in mid-April and there is not much to play until the end of the season. The Devils will be fighting to win another FA Cup trophy, after a victory in 2016, so this could be a good time to take a look at the players still on the club’s books, but playing elsewhere.

Andreas Pereira, Valencia

The Brazilian has been the closest to staying at the club, after a good pre-season with Manchester United. However, he felt he will not get enough playing time in Jose Mourinho’s team and decided to leave for Valencia. At the Spanish club, he is chasing the Champions League football and there are rumours of him wanting to stay there permanently.

He has made 25 appearances for Valencia this season, across La Liga and Copa del Rey, scoring once and creating five goals for his team-mates.

Axel Tuanzebe, Aston Villa

Axel Tuanzebe is not having a good season at Aston Villa. He was eager to get into the Championship to play for a team fighting their at back into the Premier League, but there has not been much playing time. Tuanzebe played only 300 minutes for the Birmingham club since he left there this January.

James Wilson, Sheffield United

The 22-year old went to Sheffield United, as they came back up from the League 1. His story is similar to that of Tuanzebe, as Wilson played just over 300 minutes across seven appearances in the Championship. However he has managed to score once and we could very well watch him the play-offs.

Sam Johnstone, Aston Villa

Johnstone is another player at Villa, but his story is completely different. He left United last summer to go on loan and has played in Villa’s every match in the league. He made 42 appearances, proving he is their number one, while Villa had 18 clean sheets with Johnstone in goal. Aston Villa are currently sitting in fourth place, with a 10-point lead over the seventh-placed Middlesbrough. Johnstone has been vital for those results.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Crystal Palace

Timothy Fosu-Mensah is the only Manchester United player on loan at a Premier League club this season. He has been part of the London club since the start of the season. They are still fighting to stay in the league, as the relegation battle keeps going and Fosu-Mensah will have the chance to help them stay up. Fosu-Mensah made 21 Premier League appearances so far, while also adding three apps in the cup competitions. The defender has improved at Palace, as playing time has been crucial for his development and it will be interesting to see if he will stay in Manchester next summer.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Leeds United

Borthwick-Jackson is the only player of these mentioned that has come back to the club. He was initially on loan at Leeds United, but has been called back this January. He made a single Championship appearance for Leeds, playing 82 minutes in their 0:0 draw against Preston. That was way back in the second round of the Championship, so it was not a big surprise Manchester United have called him back.
