Wesley Brown started his United career primarily as a centre back, he was tipped for great things from the very beginning and seemed to live up to that early promise as he moved effortlessly up the Old Trafford ladder.

However numerous serve injuries put a holt to his development such as cruciate ligament damage in both knees, two broken legs and countless minor injuries. and it looked as if he would never realise that early potential, and even when he did eventually start to get over his bad run of injuries consistency seemed to be missing at times and with the signing of Vidic to partner Rio it seemed as if his days to hold on to a regular first team spot had passed him by.

However with Gary Neville’s recent injury problems Wes has more than adequately taken over the right back spot and could be seen as Gary Neville’s long-term replacement.

He is quick, very strong and good in the air and as brave as a lion, and well liked and respected by his teammates. He is adaptable and accepts being a squad player without letting his head go down.

He is sometimes prone to lack of concentration, and that can be costly it has cost him his place alongside Rio for the moment. His crossing at times can also be not up to the standard perhaps expected of a top class full back and his link up play with the wide player also requires work.

Wes is loved by most United supporters for his 100 percent commitment, his Mancunian background and his rise through the youth ranks. He has stated numerous times he never wants to play for another club.
