Manchester United are preparing for their Monday match against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Devils will visit them at the Molineaux, wanting to finally beat them. Last season, it was all about Wolves, who managed to win and get a draw in the two league matches and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team will be the favourites following a 4-0 win over Chelsea. But, before that match arrives, Scott McTominay spoke about the importance of experience in the squad and Alexis Sanchez is being chased by a familiar Serie A club.
McTominay On Experience And Youth
McTominay was asked about his views on Man United’s squad and it potentially being a bit unexperienced. The Scot was part of Man United’s vibrant second-half performance against Chelsea which saw younger players like Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James, Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford all take part alongside him and McTominay did not hesitate with his answer.
He said that experience is good, but that the hunger can be more important, saying that just because someone played more does not mean they will be ahead of you in terms of performing. He took the examples of Killian Mbape and Marcus Rashford as two players who do great things on the pitch ever since appearing footballing scene as teenagers.
Whilst that is true, the two of them are extremes. Man United are doing a good thing in thinking about the future too, but the experienced players in their squad are supposed to lead them forward. There are not many players like that in this squad, as Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic and Ashley Young are not the players they were. Youth and vibrancy is great, but the mixture of the two sides is always the best choice. We will see how this young team will fare this season.
More Alexis News
Inter Milan are officially chasing Alexis Sanchez. We spoke about this yesterday, talking about Sanchez’s future and his potential stay for another six months or a year, following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s press conference claims. But now it turns out Inter are actually interested in the Chilean.
The Guardian reported tonight that Inter want to sign him on a season-long loan and that they are confident of agreeing a deal with Manchester United. Nerazzurri decided to go after him, following their failure in luring Edin Dzeko from Rome to Milan. Fabrizio Romano reported that Inter are also looking at Fernando Llorente as a possible choice, but for now, Sanchez seems to be the priority, with the Spaniard a free agent that would be easier to sign if things went south.
Inter have already signed Romelu Lukaku from United, but if they found a deal in regards to Sanchez, then Man United would be glad to get rid of a player that has badly underperformed. His huge wages are a problem and finding him a club for a year would be a good choice, especially if it meant a possible buy-out. The only potential problem is that the Devils would be too light on attacking options this season. Truth to be told, that will not matter much if Sanchez stays and keeps underperforming.
