Tuchel and Ten Hag Amidst Bizarre Speculation
In a strange turn of events, Erik ten Hag is now linked with the Bayern Munich managerial vacancy. This speculation has led to Thomas Tuchel being mentioned as a potential replacement for Ten Hag should the Dutchman be dismissed from his role at Manchester United.
Tuchel is set to depart Bayern Munich at the end of the current season, regardless of the outcome of the Champions League final in June. Meanwhile, Ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford appears more precarious, given United’s current standing in the Premier League. With the team now out of contention for European football next season, having been eliminated from the Champions League group stage and knocked out of the Carabao Cup in the fourth round, Ten Hag’s position remains under scrutiny.
Christian Falk, a well-regarded German football expert, has revealed Bayern’s interest in Ten Hag while noting that Tuchel remains interested in the managerial position at United. Tuchel, who has an impressive track record, guided Chelsea to their second Champions League title by defeating Manchester City in 2021 and went on to win both the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup with the Blues. He has also won league titles with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, among other accolades, since 2015.
Maguire to Facilitate Branthwaite Transfer?
Manchester United are prioritising the acquisition of a centre-back this summer, with several players in that position potentially set to leave. Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane are both out of contract at season’s end, while Victor Lindelof has just a year remaining on his deal. Harry Maguire also has 12 months left on his contract, and his future at the club remains uncertain amid interest from other Premier League teams.
United have shown interest in Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, who has emerged as one of the Premier League’s promising young talents. Reports suggest that United might use Maguire as part of a deal to secure Branthwaite’s signature. The Daily Star indicates that United could leverage Maguire to negotiate a more favourable deal for Branthwaite, as they look to bolster their defensive options.
Everton reportedly value Branthwaite at £70 million, although this figure could be adjusted depending on whether Maguire is included in the deal. The valuation may also increase if other clubs enter the race for the highly-rated defender following his impressive season.
