Man United News: De Gea And Pogba Injuries, Allegri Rumours And More

Manchester United are preparing for the Sunday clash against Liverpool. The great rivalry will be played out once again, but this time it feels like Liverpool will be the most overwhelming favourite against Man United for quite some time, probably even decades.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team is sitting in 12th place after eight matches and for their rise in the standings to start, they will need to beat Liverpool. That will be a lot harder without some important first-team players.

Big Blows For Sunday Clash

The two of those are Paul Pogba and David De Gea and it looks like neither of them will play against Liverpool.Pogba has been ruled out of the match, with Solskjaer also expecting the Spanish goalkeeper to be unavailable. This will be a huge blow to an ailing side that is already short on players and this could be really felt on the pitch. Pogba still has not recovered from his foot injury that could see him miss the Europa League match against Partizan as well.

On the other hand, De Gea requires a scan after what seems to be a groin injury, but Solskjaer has already implied that there are very slim chances of him being ready. It looks like Sergio Romero will have to step it up.

Max Allegri Rumours Continue

The other important story of the day is that regarding Massimiliano Allegri. Former Juventus coach is apparently very close to becoming the next Man Untied manager, but there is a catch. The only sources for this story come from Italian media, and mostly the likes of Tuttosport and Calciomercato, who are known as not being the most reliable. If it was Gianluca di Marzio, that would have been a different story.

But none of these stories are being seriously reported by the likes of The Guardian or anyone of their reputation, but mostly Metro and others. It still might be true that Allegri is close to signing a deal with the Devils, but it feels a bit far-fetched that he has already been in advanced negotiations with the club that has the manager.

Allegri has been without a club since leaving Juventus last summer and the 52-year-old had planned on taking a year out. However, according to Italian media, Allegri has made no secret of his desire to manage a Premier League club and that might be Man United. For now, let’s wait and see.

Why United Did Not Want To Sign Felix?

On Wednesday, another interesting piece of information was revealed to the wider public. According to The Athletic, Manchester United discussed the possibility of signing the Portuguese starlet Joao Felix numerous times. However, the report suggests the club opted not to sign the youngster because of concerns over his lack of physicality.

The player signed for Atletico Madrid later in the summer, after the La Liga side had paid his £113m release clause, making him the fifth most expensive player in the history of football and second most expensive teenager, behind Kylian Mbappe.

The Athletic are suggesting that Felix’s transfer was discussed ‘many times’ by Old Trafford chiefs before his move to Spain, but they had a few reservations about the physique.
