Can Alexis Turn Things Around, What Happens To Rojo And Dembele Rumours

The 2018/19 season ended with Manchester United in 6th, but there is every reason to believe things will improve next season and you can use this Betfair promo code to place a bet on United finishing in the top four in 2019/20 at the very least. Things will need to change over the summer though, and we look at three major points of discussion surrounding the team this month.

Andy Cole Believes In Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez has had terrible 18 months at Manchester United since joining and he is expected to move on this summer, at least on loan, if the Devils can find him a new club. It goes as far as suggesting the club would pay half of his wages just to get rid of him. But Andy Cole still feels that Sanchez could make it at Old Trafford.

“Sanchez is a bit like the Torres thing. You know, when Torres left Liverpool and went to Chelsea, all of a sudden he wasn’t the same individual and left everyone scratching their head. I think the situation with Sanchez now has got everyone scratching their head”, Cole said, per Independent.

“For what he was at Arsenal and then coming to Manchester United, you turn and say, ‘well, where has it kind of gone wrong?’ Because you can’t become a bad player overnight. You cannot do it. For some reason, I keep saying to myself he’ll turn it around. If it’s at Manchester United we’ll have to wait and see but you just can’t become a bad player overnight because he has too many qualities.”

Rojo On His Role In The Team

Marcos Rojo spoke to El Dia on Friday and when asked about the manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer, the Argentine had a prepared answer.

“I spoke to the manager before the holidays and about what he planned to do with me. He told me that he had me in mind, that I was an important player, that he was going to take into account”, Rojo said.

However, this will most probably be decided upon whether Solskjaer gets the necessary reinforcements in the summer transfer window or not. It is already obvious Man United would need at least one centre-back before the new season starts and with just one real improvement made for that position, it is hard to see Marcos Rojo having a real role in this squad. He could at most be a backup for Luke Shaw, but last season he was not considered even for that, with Darmian, Dalot and Young often filling in.

Moussa Dembele The Latest Target

The latest Manchester United target is Moussa Dembele. That is not former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele, but rather the Lyon striker, Moussa. The 22-year-old just finished his Ligue 1 campaign with the French outfit and he had a great season behind him.

With 15 goals and four assists in 2017 minutes on the pitch, Dembele had 0.85 goals+assists per 90 minutes in Ligue 1 this season. His Lyon finished third in the league, which means Champions League qualification and former Celtic player is reportedly on the move from the south of France.

Many clubs are interested and several media claim that Man United have already offered 45 million euros to Lyon for the youngster’s services. Dembele’s steady rise is something European clubs are aware of and the player himself could fit into the somewhat different approach Man United are expected to make in the market this summer.
