Maguire Set For New Man United Deal
Manchester United are preparing to extend Harry Maguire’s stay beyond the summer, despite his current contract approaching its expiry. Reports from Chris Wheeler and Nathan Salt suggest it is becoming increasingly probable that the defender will remain at Old Trafford, with the club expected to table a formal offer in the coming weeks.
Discussions are anticipated to focus on both the duration of the new deal and revised financial terms. Maguire, who currently earns £180,000 per week, is reportedly open to accepting a reduced salary in order to prolong his spell in Manchester beyond seven years. His willingness to compromise reflects a clear desire to continue contributing to the squad during the latter stages of his career.
Having entered the final months of his contract, the 32-year-old has been eligible to engage with interested clubs since January. AC Milan were among those to explore a potential move during the winter window, but Maguire made it clear that his preference is to remain with United. His stance has been reinforced by a strong run of performances under Michael Carrick.
The centre-back has featured in every match since Carrick’s appointment, playing a key role in a sequence of four victories from five fixtures. Notably, the team recorded clean sheets against Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, underlining his renewed importance within the defensive unit. His resurgence has even prompted calls for an international recall. Since succeeding Gareth Southgate in 2025, Tuchel has yet to include Maguire, Luke Shaw, or Kobbie Mainoo in his selections, leaving uncertainty ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
Devils Linked With Bundesliga Star
Manchester United are among several elite clubs monitoring Yan Diomande, with German journalist Christian Falk confirming their interest. Writing in his CF Bayern Insider column, Falk noted that RB Leipzig have placed a valuation of €100 million on the highly rated 19-year-old, as determined by club executive Oliver Mintzlaff.
Interest in Diomande extends across the Premier League, with Manchester City and Liverpool also tracking his progress. Falk indicated that all three English sides are actively following the winger, while Bayern Munich remain attentive but are unlikely to match Leipzig’s valuation. The German champions are currently satisfied with Luis Diaz occupying the left flank following his strong performances since arriving from Liverpool.
United’s interest in Diomande aligns with a broader attacking overhaul expected in the upcoming transfer window. Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund are set to complete permanent moves to Barcelona and Napoli respectively, while Jadon Sancho is expected to depart upon the expiry of his contract. Earlier exits for Antony and Alejandro Garnacho have already reduced attacking depth.
Although arrivals such as Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have strengthened the forward line, further reinforcements appear necessary, particularly with the prospect of Champions League football returning to Old Trafford. Diomande’s profile fits the club’s long-term vision, combining youth with productivity. So far this season, the Ivorian international has registered eight goals and six assists in 23 appearances across all competitions. A move to United could also see him link up at club level with compatriot Amad Diallo, having already shared the pitch during the Africa Cup of Nations earlier in the year.
