Al Nassr Show Interest in Casemiro
Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr have reportedly engaged in discussions with Casemiro’s representatives, hinting at a potential departure from Manchester United this summer. The information, sourced from Caught Offside, suggests that United are open to the idea of selling the experienced Brazilian midfielder following a season of decline.
Casemiro, who has struggled to replicate his previous form, has been a point of concern for United. His performances have noticeably dipped, particularly alarming given the team’s reliance on him as their sole defensive midfielder. With Sofyan Amrabat’s loan proving less effective, United’s midfield issues are exacerbated.
Al Nassr are reportedly prepared to offer €40 million (£34.4m) to secure Casemiro’s services, coupled with a three-year contract for the player. The crux of the matter lies in whether Casemiro is inclined to move to the Middle East. His form has waned considerably, and he has already experienced life at a top club in Europe with Real Madrid.
The potential transfer could also offer financial benefits to United, a positive outcome amidst their ongoing financial constraints. Casemiro’s performance in the recent 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace highlighted his struggles, further underscoring the rationale behind United’s willingness to consider his sale.
Brazil Excludes Manchester United Duo from Copa America Squad
Manchester United’s Casemiro has been excluded from Brazil’s squad for the upcoming Copa America, as confirmed by coach Dorival Jr. The 32-year-old, who has earned 75 caps for Brazil, has had a challenging season with United and will not feature in the 23-man squad for the tournament.
Casemiro’s exclusion is notable given his previous role as Brazil’s captain, marking a significant drop in his international standing. Tottenham’s Richarlison and Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus have also missed out, while United’s Antony will have a quiet summer as Brazil prepares without him.
The squad will be without Neymar, who is still recovering from a knee ligament injury sustained last October. In a surprising move, Dorival Jr has included teenage Palmeiras striker Endrick, who will join Real Madrid this summer. Endrick made headlines with his record as the youngest male goalscorer for both club and country in a friendly against England.
Amrabat’s Future Uncertain After Disappointing Loan
Sofyan Amrabat’s loan spell at Manchester United from Fiorentina has largely been underwhelming. Although he was initially introduced to the team in an unfamiliar left-back role, his performances in midfield have not improved, raising questions about his suitability for English football.
Amrabat’s lack of pace and inability to adapt have been glaring issues. United paid an initial £8.5 million for his loan, which now seems steep given the tight spending constraints. With Amrabat failing to start a Premier League game in 2024, it is unlikely that United will activate his £21 million release clause.
Italian media outlet Tuttosport reports that Amrabat’s agents are seeking a move away from Fiorentina once his loan deal ends. AC Milan are said to be interested in the 27-year-old, though United’s priority will be ensuring he departs, given his lack of impact. Amrabat himself is reportedly keen to avoid returning to Fiorentina, which could make for an eventful summer transfer window.
