Nemanja Vidic Transfer News: Sir Alex Ferguson is uncertain

For the past few transfer windows there has been an air of uncertainty surrounding Nemanja Vidic, but thus far we’ve managed to retain his services. It seems his future has grown even more uncertain. When asked about Vidic’s future, Sir Alex simply responded, “I can’t clarify it at all.” He did go on to state he believe Vidic would play for United this season, but it is hardly the reassuring response fans are looking for. The vultures from Real Madrid are surely circling above Old Trafford ready to make their move should Vidic’s United career come to a figurative death.

The Serbian centre back has long been linked with a move to Spain and, if the press is to be believed, it seems they are ready to make their move. The fact that Vidic’s agent publicly stated that his client requested time to consider his future after the World Cup only fuels the fire. With just over a month remaining in the transfer window, this United fan will certainly be uneasy over the future of such a key player.

Vidic is due to join his teammates for a preseason friendly in Dublin on 4 August, and it will be interesting to see if he is still around when that time comes.

I’m of the opinion that if a player no longer wants to play for Manchester United, then they should be allowed to leave. When a player pulls on that shirt, he should do so with pride and be honored to represent a club of United’s stature. At the same time, though, I feel Vidic also owes this club a bit of loyalty. Until Sir Alex gave Vidic a chance, he was hardly a star player. At United he became one of the world’s premier defenders. He was a rock at the back as he won three Premier League titles, the Champions League, and the Club World Cup with United. Were it not for United and the faith Sir Alex showed in him, Vidic may never have achieved the incredible success that he has. In that regard, I feel Vidic does owe something to the team, and especially to the gaffer.

Should Vidic leave, I think we have a ready-made replacement in Jonny Evans. While I’d certainly prefer the experienced Vidic for a few more season, his departure would allow Evans to get some quality experience as a first-choice centre back. Though, with Rio Ferdinand’s recent luck with injuries, I think Evans would already be getting more than enough experience.

There’s no telling what will happen with Vidic between now and the transfer window’s close, but you can rest assured that Stretford-End.com will bring you all the news and analysis as it happens.

  1. well vidc goes and no one conmes in then i am afraid i will have lost faith in fergie. and i think he should go if that happens. we wont win league if we dont replace vidc. dont get me wrong i love fergie to bits. but do you realy think we can win title with out vidc and no coming replace him and god knows how long rio is out. i say fergie out galzers out . only vidc goes and he does not replace him. if vidc stays then fergie stays for me

  2. marca clianms toingth madriad have made a bid for vidc. and i herd fergie is going to use that money to buy ozil and will keep faith in brown evans smalling

  3. I belive Fergie owe him too. Vidic should be earning more wages and to my opinion the same as Ferdinand. Ferdinand is earning 120k while vidic is 70k. If i was vidic i could feel disappointed and feel not wanted.
