Garnacho’s Future Remains Uncertain
Alejandro Garnacho may be edging towards an exit from Manchester United, with his future still up in the air following limited opportunities last season. At 21, the Argentine winger has struggled to cement a regular role at Old Trafford and appears keen to move on in search of consistent playing time. Reports from Fabrizio Romano have linked him to several clubs, including Napoli, although no agreement has yet materialised. While United were reportedly open to a sale earlier in the window, Garnacho remains at the club. According to ESPN, the club have now outlined their interim plan: despite an apparent clash between Garnacho and manager Ruben Amorim, the player will continue to train with the squad during pre-season while a suitable transfer is pursued.
Those close to the situation believe Garnacho would benefit from a change of scenery where he can play a central role. With the right environment and guidance, he has the potential to develop into a top-tier footballer. Manchester United, on the other hand, are expected to seek a swift resolution and reinvest any income from his departure into strengthening the squad. Given the current disconnect with Amorim’s setup, a split seems mutually beneficial. Garnacho will now aim to relaunch his career at a club where he can compete for silverware. He is regarded as a player with elite-level potential, and some at United may come to regret letting him leave.
De Gea Urges Fiorentina To Sign Lindelof
David de Gea is reportedly keen to reunite with Victor Lindelof at Fiorentina and has asked the club to pursue the Swedish defender this summer. The Spanish goalkeeper recently signed a three-year extension that will keep him in Florence until June 2028. After a successful return to first-team action last season, following a year out of the game, De Gea appears eager to bolster the squad with familiar faces from his time at Old Trafford. It was reported that United had initially offered him a contract extension in 2023 before withdrawing the proposal, prompting his controversial departure. Now settled in Serie A, De Gea is said to be lobbying Fiorentina’s board to make a move for Lindelof, according to Football Italia.
The 30-year-old centre-back left United earlier this summer following the expiry of his contract. After eight seasons in England and a five-year stint at Benfica before that, Lindelof is considering several options, including a potential return to Portugal or a move within the Premier League. Clubs such as Brighton, Crystal Palace, and Everton have all previously shown interest. Despite an injury-hit campaign that restricted him to just six Premier League starts in 2024/25, Lindelof is still viewed as a valuable defender. Former teammate Harry Maguire once described him as “technically brilliant”, and the Swede is expected to have more to offer before calling time on his career.
