Garnacho Drawing More Premier League Interest

Alejandro Garnacho is finally beginning to attract the Premier League attention he had hoped for throughout the summer. It has been widely known that the Manchester United winger prefers a move within England rather than heading abroad, though such a scenario hinges on concrete interest from domestic clubs. That appears increasingly likely as the transfer window enters its final stretch, with Garnacho hopeful of sealing a departure before the 2025/26 campaign begins in a month. Aston Villa recently emerged as a new admirer, and Garnacho is reportedly aware that Chelsea continue to view him as a potential signing, following initial contact made in January. Now, Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail has reported that Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Garnacho’s situation and considering whether to make a move.

The 21-year-old has continued training at Carrington during the off-season, although he has been required to report in the evenings, after manager Ruben Amorim and the first-team squad have left. He has been joined by other marginalised players including Antony, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Marcus Rashford. According to MailSport, Garnacho was previously valued at around £70 million. However, his falling out with Amorim has reportedly damaged his standing at the club and led to a significant reduction in his asking price, with interested clubs now aware of United’s eagerness to offload the academy graduate. Garnacho joined from Atletico Madrid’s youth setup in 2020 for £420,000 and has since made 144 senior appearances for United. He also has eight international caps for Argentina.

United Target Hjulmand to Reunite With Amorim

Manchester United are said to be targeting Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand in an effort to reunite him with his former coach Ruben Amorim. The Danish international began his career with FC Copenhagen before spells at Admira Wacker and Lecce, where he was instrumental in their 2022 promotion to Serie A. His performances in Italy earned him a move to Sporting in 2023, with Amorim requesting his arrival as part of his tactical plans. Since then, Hjulmand has established himself as a key player in midfield. Even after Amorim’s departure to United in November 2024, he maintained a strong level of performance. Danish teammate Thomas Delaney once described him as a ‘fiery’ presence on the pitch.

Although United had previously prioritised other midfield profiles such as Ederson of Atalanta, sources close to Stretty News now indicate that Hjulmand is viewed as a priority signing. While Ederson and Richard Rios remain options, the Dane has moved to the top of the shortlist. Several major European clubs, including Juventus, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Liverpool, PSG and Barcelona, are also monitoring his situation. However, it is understood that United lead the race, helped by the presence of Amorim, under whom Hjulmand is reportedly keen to work again. The main obstacle remains Sporting’s asking price. The Portuguese club are demanding the full €80 million release clause, although negotiations could see a deal struck in the €50–60 million range. United are currently focused on finalising a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, but once that situation is resolved, they are expected to accelerate talks to strengthen other areas of the squad.
