United Offered Ramos as Striker Search Continues

Manchester United’s pursuit of a top-level striker faces growing competition, with several Premier League rivals also looking to bolster their attacking options. Arsenal, Chelsea, and potentially Liverpool, should they offload Darwin Núñez, are all targeting high-calibre forwards. United, meanwhile, suffered a setback when Chelsea secured Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. The England U21 international had been identified by INEOS as the preferred choice to lead Rúben Amorim’s line next season, but United’s absence from the Champions League proved a decisive obstacle. Despite this, the club still has viable options, though the list remains limited. They continue to be linked with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who is seeking a move, and Sporting striker Viktor Gyökeres, a former player under Amorim. However, Gyökeres may end up at Arsenal if their bid meets Sporting’s valuation of over £60 million.

According to journalist Nathan Salt of Mail Sport, United have now been offered another possibility in Gonçalo Ramos. The 23-year-old joined Paris Saint-Germain from Benfica in 2023, initially on loan before making the move permanent for £54.6 million. He had previously been on United’s shortlist before the club chose to sign Rasmus Højlund from Atalanta for £64 million.

Ramos’ time in Paris has not gone as anticipated, despite winning two Ligue 1 titles and the Champions League. He has struggled for consistency and playing time under Luis Enrique. In his first season, he scored 14 goals and provided two assists across 40 appearances, only 21 of which were starts. In 2024–25, he started just 16 matches but improved his return to 18 goals and six assists. It remains unclear whether United will act on the offer. Their decision will likely depend on the player’s openness to leaving European football for a year and adapting to the physical demands of the Premier League.

Mbeumo Talks Officially Underway

Manchester United have opened official negotiations with Brentford regarding the transfer of winger Bryan Mbeumo, following confirmation of the player’s desire to join the club. According to David Ornstein, Mbeumo rejected interest from Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur, all of whom can offer Champions League football, in favour of a move to Old Trafford. The 25-year-old, who enjoyed a career-best season in 2024–25, is reportedly attracted by the opportunity to represent United and play at the Theatre of Dreams. Ben Jacobs has reported that direct talks between the clubs are now in progress, with Brentford seeking a £50 million fee to release their talisman.

Mbeumo reached 20 league goals for the first time last season, sealing the milestone in Brentford’s 1–1 draw with Wolves on the final day. He also contributed eight assists and started every match in the Premier League campaign.

However, Brentford’s hierarchy is reportedly displeased with how the situation has unfolded. According to Mail Sport, the club is unhappy that Mbeumo’s preference to join United became public, a development which they feel has left them cornered and weakened their negotiating stance. The West London club are now bracing for a potentially reduced opening bid, especially as United recently agreed to pay £62.5 million for Matheus Cunha after triggering his release clause at Wolves, with the amount set to be paid in instalments over two years. Brentford view Mbeumo in a similar bracket and are determined to secure full value.
