Five Players Manchester United Should Look Into To Sign On A Free

Manchester United are in one of their worst seasons of the modern era and things are looking bleak. Ruben Amorim is trying his best to get the most out of a very limited squad, which shows no real bite to prove the critics wrong and show they can do much more than they have been doing so far. United are much closer to the relegation places than Champions League football these days and with six losses in all competitions in December, it is clear there is a long way for the Devils before things start looking better.

But with the club being limited with their movements in the transfer market, due to great financial investments which led to absolutely nothing good, Man United might need to start looking into players they could sign on a free transfer. Now, it is clear it will not be easy to lure in the best talent considering how poor the Devils look right now, but this club needs to keep pushing to improve.

Jonathan David

The Lille striker has been at the club since 2020 and ever since, there were rumours of him finding a new club, but now that he is approaching the end of his contract in the summer, Jonathan David could actually be on the go. This season he scored 17 goals in all competitions and added five assists in 26 appearances, which is something United players can only dream of this season. With 101 goals for Lille in 209 matches, David will soon turn 25 and this could be a perfect time for United to jump in and try to get a coup from a financial point of view.

Leroy Sane

Now we are getting to some tougher options. Former Manchester City winger, Sane is not someone who feels like an immediate fit, but he is still not getting a new contract at Bayern and he might be leaving the club. Under Vincent Kompany, Sane got only 915 minutes on the pitch this season, across 19 appearances and it is clear that he is not needed in Munich anymore. Whether United would face some stiff competition for the German’s signature remains to be seen, but at soon-to-be 29, Sane should still have several years in which he could deliver.

Jonathan Tah

A central defender always seem to be a necessity for Manchester United and Jonathan Tah could be an interesting option should he not stay at Bayer Leverkusen. He was part of that spectacular Xabi Alonso side last season and is definitely someone Ruben Amorim could use in his squad. The German has enough experience and he is also soon turning 29, meaning Man United could hope to get good three years out of him.

Frank Anguissa

Former Fulham midfielder is not the most obvious option for Man United among the players whose contracts end in the summer, but the Devils definitely need depth in that area of the pitch and Franck Anguissa could bring it. Currently at Napoli, Anguissa is doing really well and should he not get a contract extension, Man United should definitely get after him.

Angel Gomes

And finally, one of the players that United let slip through. Angel Gomes is, like David, doing well at Lille. At 24, there is still place for him to improve and Man United could get a new option in attacking midfield without having to pay a transfer fee. Gomes has not played as much this season due to injury, but he could be a good squad player to have.
