Mazraoui Set to Join United Until 2029

Manchester United are poised to sign a new right-back, but the deal hinges on the departure of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. West Ham’s interest in Wan-Bissaka could trigger a series of transfer movements. The Hammers had initially targeted Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui but have now shifted focus due to a failed agreement. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Mazraoui has agreed to a five-year contract with Manchester United, with an additional 12-month option. However, Mazraoui is awaiting confirmation from United, who must first finalise Wan-Bissaka’s sale.

Wan-Bissaka is in the final year of his contract, and United aim to capitalise on his value while replacing him with a player better aligned with Erik ten Hag’s tactical preferences. Ten Hag previously worked with Mazraoui during his tenure at Ajax, which makes the Moroccan a natural fit for his system. Mazraoui’s recent injury record is a concern, as he missed 96 days and 19 matches last season due to five separate issues. United will hope that West Ham and Wan-Bissaka can reach an agreement swiftly to avoid further delays in completing the transfer.

Varane Joins Fabregas at Como

Raphael Varane is embarking on a new chapter in his career following his departure from Manchester United. The French defender, released after his contract ended this summer, played a pivotal role in United’s FA Cup triumph over Manchester City in May. Varane, who enjoyed a successful three-year spell at Old Trafford, will now join Serie A side Como 1907 on a two-year contract.

Como 1907 announced the signing on their official website: “We are delighted to confirm the addition of French defender Raphael Varane to our squad on a two-year deal with an option to extend. Varane, recognised as one of the finest defenders of his generation, previously won three La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies with Real Madrid.”

The 2018 World Cup winner was instrumental in Manchester United’s recent successes, helping the club secure their first major trophies in six years, including the 2023 Carabao Cup and the 2024 FA Cup. Cesc Fabregas, recently appointed as Como’s manager, welcomed Varane’s arrival: “Raphael is a special talent, and his signing demonstrates our club’s ambition. This is an exciting time for Como, and having a World Cup winner like Varane in our defence will be invaluable.”

This will be Fabregas’ inaugural managerial role, and adding a seasoned international like Varane to his squad is a significant boost as Como prepares for the new Serie A season.
